Xiaomi is yet to sell the Redmi Watch 2 outside China, although it has unveiled the Redmi Watch 2 Lite globally. Mind you, the Redmi Watch 2 is cheap itself, with Xiaomi initially asking CNY 349 (~US$54) for it in its home market. The smartwatch will eventually retail for CNY 399 (~US$62), for reference.
Like the Redmi Note 11 series, the Redmi Watch 2 has already proven a hit in China. According to Xiaomi, it turned over CNY 10 million in two hours, which equates to US$1.56 million at current exchange rates. Approximately, CNY 10 million corresponds to 28,653 units sold too, a figure that has no doubt increased since Xiaomi's Weibo post.
The Redmi Watch 2 features an OLED display, which could be one of the reasons for the smartwatch's popularity. Additionally, the smartwatch has 5 ATM water resistance, a SpO2 sensor for measuring blood oxygen levels and over 110 exercise modes from which to choose. Similarly, Xiaomi has pre-loaded more than 100 watch faces onto its proprietary OS.
Incidentally, Xiaomi has shared hands-on pictures of the new smartwatch. While the Redmi Watch 2 does not look as svelte as marketing renders suggest, it has thinner display bezels than its predecessor. The smartwatch has replaceable watch straps too, but it does not appear to be compatible with conventional straps, for some reason.
